Sarah Brook

I’m Sarah Brook, I’ve been an Educational Psychologist for 17 years and before that worked as an Assistant Educational Psychologist and teacher. I live along the North Tyneside coast with my husband and two school-aged children, and although originally from the south of England, I am totally committed and happy with life in the North East. My passion for education is drive by the belief that education is the foundation to creating opportunity and social and economic equality.

I have been working as a private practitioner in Educational Psychology for 7 years and have delivered into various settings across the region. Over the years of my career, I have worked as an Educational Psychologist in various North East Local Authorities and different settings, including Children’s Centres, Children’s Homes, multi-agency teams with a focus on social, emotional and mental health. I have a particular passion for working at a whole school level, including consultation, support and training to bring about systemic change.

Since the Covid pandemic, I have seen a change in the mental health and wellbeing of the school communities that I support. I believe that relationships in schools are fundamental for improving educational outcomes and wellbeing. I focus my practice on improving staff wellbeing, social, emotional and mental health needs, relational approaches and neurodiverse inclusive teaching and environments. I am also interested in the area of executive functioning and the impact difficulties in this area can have on curriculum access and functional living. I take great pride in seeing the impact that my work can have on children’s education and their future.
